Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Power)
Laylat al-Qadr, mentioned in its own surah in the Qur'an and considered better than a thousand months, is a blessed night. Surah al-Qadr states that the Qur'an was revealed on this night and that the angels and the Spirit (Gabriel) descend.
In 2026, Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Power) falls on 2026-03-16. The Hijri equivalent is 26 Ramazan 1447.
What Does This Night Remind Us?
Laylat al-Qadr is the night when the servant stands face to face with the Lord, takes account of the past, and renews sincere wishes for the future. The meaning of the blessing that makes one night worth a thousand months lies here.
A Small Step for Today
- In a quiet hour empty your heart and make a sincere repentance.
- Read a short passage from the Qur'an and reflect on its meaning.
- Offer heartfelt prayers for your family and the ummah.
- Repeat the supplication the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught to Aisha: "Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni" (O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me).
Indeed, We sent it (the Qur'an) down during the Night of Power. And what can make you know what is the Night of Power? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. (Surah al-Qadr 97/1-3)
