Eve of Eid al-Fitr
The Eve of Eid al-Fitr is the day when we complete the month of fasting and prepare spiritually for the festival. On this day, zakat al-fitr (sadaqat al-fitr) is given and visits to family and loved ones are planned.
In 2026, Eve of Eid al-Fitr falls on 2026-03-19. The Hijri equivalent is 29 Ramazan 1447.
What Does This Day Remind Us?
Eid is the joy of gratitude before Allah for a month of fasting and spiritual training. The Eve is the day of sincere preparation for that joy.
A Small Step for Today
- Pay your zakat al-fitr today so it reaches the recipient before the Eid prayer.
- If there is someone you have hurt, renew your hearts with them before Eid.
- Be mindful of ablution and ghusl in preparation for the Eid prayer.
- Plan your visits to elderly, sick, and isolated relatives.
Zakat al-fitr purifies the fasting person from idle and wrongful speech and provides food for those in need. (Abu Dawud, Zakat 18 — narrated by Ibn Abbas)
